Horse Racing: Golan storms to impressive French win
Golan heads for the Prix de l'Arc de Triomphe after an impressive win at Longchamp.
The Sagitta 2000 Guineas winner, trained by Sir Michael Stoute, beat French Derby winner Anabaa Blue in the Prix Niel Casino Barriere d'Enghien les Bains.
Third was French-trained Chichicastenango, with the other British challenger, Storming Home, from the Barry Hills yard, last of the seven runners.
Golan's jockey Kieren Fallon said: "He was in front too soon but I got a perfect opening and I had to take that.
"He felt good today. He loves it round here. He's definitely a real Arc horse.
"He will need a low draw but I think a good gallop will suit him. I am just looking forward to the race."
Golan had been off the course since finishing third to Galileo in the Budweiser Irish Derby in June. He had earlier been second to the same horse in the Vodafone Derby at Epsom.
