Premiership: Liverpool sign Kirkland and Dudek

Liverpool have reacted almost instantly to the collapse of Jerzy Dudek’s proposed transfer by buying Coventry goalkeeper Chris Kirkland.

Liverpool have completed a sensational double-signing after buying two goalkeepers just in time to beat the Champions League deadline.

Coventry’s Chris Kirkland and Feyenoord’s Jerzy Dudek have both signed contracts with Liverpool in a move that casts doubts over Sander Westerveld’s future at Anfield.

The fee paid for Kirkland is believed to be more than the current £6m British transfer record for a goalkeeper.
