Formula 1: Heidfeld fit for European GP

Sauber's Nick Heidfeld will be fit to race at the Nurburgring in the European Grand Prix after recovering from illness.

The German was involved in a crash with Eddie Irvine at the Canadian Grand Prix.

And he was still suffering headaches during testing at Silverstone on Tuesday.

Team officials were initially worried that the problems could be concussion incurred from the crash.

But these concerns have been eradicated after a check-up by the team's doctor.

A spokesperson for Sauber said: "There are no problems, no worries.

"The doctor called me last night and said he was very happy.

"He's super-fit. He was probably suffering from a bit of jet-lag as it was a hard trip back from Canada.

"He was also really disappointed with what happened at Canada and when you're disappointed you get a headache!"
