Boxing: Moore makes sure of bronze

Irish team captain Jim Moore made sure of at least a bronze medal at the World Amateur Boxing Championships, when he squeezed into the welterweight semi-finals on the countback system.

After four rounds, Arklow electrician Moore finished all square on points at 24-24 with Turkey's Firat Kiragollu.

However, the Irishman took victory 118-82 on the computer countback.

There was disappointment though for Irish quintet John Paul Kinsella, Damien McKenna, Kenneth Egan, Micheal Kelly and Alan Reynolds who all crashed out in the last eight.
