Formula 1: Trulli disqualified
Ralf Schumacher’s hopes of following up his victory in the San Marino Grand Prix were dashed as he drove into retirement at the end of lap 10.
That left Montoya with a lead of just over a second on Schumacher senior but the world champion immediately closed that gap to a fraction.
The Colombian was forced into desperate measures trying to prevent Schumacher overtaking him.
Rubens Barrichello in the other Ferrari and Verstappen were also in close proximity.
Jordan’s nightmare race was completed when Trulli was disqualified having left the pit-lane, from where he was forced to start, while the red light was showing.
