Motorsport: Keohane salvages four points
Scotland’s, Robbie Kerr, took his third win in the British Formula 3 Scholarship Class at a sunny Oulton Park where Cork driver, Michael Keohane salvaged four points from his eighth place finish after he had to return to the pits with just three laps remaining.
The race was restarted after three drivers collided at Old Hall, the first corner of the Cheshire circuit.
Kerr set the pace in the Scholarship Class followed by Mark Mayall and Keohane.
The Cork driver in his Weathermaster/Clonakilty Black Pudding Toyota engined car had to lap the 2.5 mile circuit without second gear.
To his credit, he held a comfortable third until six laps from home when he had to change the front wing.
He rejoined the race to finish eighth.
Kerr took the chequered flag and championship leader, Gilmore was fifth.
Irish racers, Adam Carroll, Colin Turkington, Tony Rodgers and James Murphy race in the Slick 50 FF Zetec race later this afternoon, Eoin Murray races in Ford Fiesta and Michael Keohane is off pole for the second of the F3 Scholarship race that scheduled to begin at 3. 30 p.m.
