A total of 36 horses remain in the 45th running of the Whitbread Gold Cup at Sandown Park.

The weights are set to go up 10lb for Saturday's race following the defection of See More Business, who had topped the handicap on 12st.

Marlborough, who is expected to run in the Tote Gold Trophy, heads the list on 11st 10lb with last year's winner Beau on 11st 4lb.

Ted Walsh's Papillon is the only entry in the race eligible for the £100,000 bonus for any horse who goes on to win the Whitbread after being placed in the Martell Grand National.

Papillon was remounted to finish fourth at Aintree and a decision on his participation at Sandown will not be taken until later in the week.

Other interesting entries are Inn At The Top, who was an 11th hour withdrawal from the Grand National due to the heavy ground, and easy Aintree winner Kingsmark.
