Britain's Olympic bid takes shape
Britain's proposed bid for the 2012 Olympic Games could involve widespread regeneration of London's East End, according to a report.
The Times claims that the main athletics stadium and housing for 20,000 competitors and athletes are planned for an Olympic village in Stratford.
The British Olympic Association have, according to the newspaper, drawn up detailed proposals.
The BOA is trying to bring the world's biggest sporting event to this country for the first time since 1948.
BOA chief executive Simon Clegg met London mayor Ken Livingstone last week to discuss the plans.
"The mayor was very, very positive and we are delighted with his reaction," Clegg told The Times.
"We now look forward to working with the Government and the Greater London Authority to move the process forward before determining whether to mount a bid for 2012."
