Top Irish jockey Ruby Walshe has defended his decision to ride in this year's Cheltenham festival despite a government plea for people not to travel to Britain from this country because of the foot and mouth crisis.

Walshe insisted he posed no danger because he would not be returning to Ireland after the race, planning instead to go on holiday.
