Peace talks took place last night in a bid to avert a major split in snooker at the end of the season.

Internet company The Sportmasters Network have announced plans to set up a rival tour next season in direction opposition to the official circuit organised by World Snooker.

The two sides met over the negotiating table at Preston last week, talks described as "harmonious but inconclusive".

Last night, at Heathrow airport, Jim McKenzie, managing director of World Snooker, met TSN chief executive George Smith again to try to find a solution to the crisis.
