A formal decision is expected later today on whether athletics will be part of the new look Wembley Stadium.

Despite two months of consultation by project co-ordinator Rodney Walker, the move does now appear to be extremely unlikely.

Picketts Lock in north London appears to be the more likely option for a new, separate athletics stadium, which UK sports chiefs hope will be a suitable venue for the 2005 World Athletics Championships.
