The GAA last night announced controversial plans to scrap the traditional speeches after the All-Ireland finals.

The proposals were put forward by the Central Council of the association, who met recently with a view to modernising the All-Ireland final procedures. Some members believe the speeches are an outdated tradition that has become somewhat of an embarrassing string of clichés.
