Collymore attracts French interest

Bradford outcast Stan Collymore could be poised to join fellow bad boy Nicolas Anelka at Paris St Germain.

Collymore has been told in no uncertain terms by City boss Jim Jefferies that he, along with Benito Carbone and Dan Petrescu, do not have a future at Valley Parade.

After failing to agree personal terms regarding a move to Bundesliga side VfB Stuttgart at the weekend, PSG are understood to have made tentative enquiries concerning Collymore.

Earlier this week the 29-year-old striker made it clear his future now lies abroad as he does not feel another British club are willing to take a chance on him.

If PSG do follow up their initial interest then again the stumbling block could prove to be Collymore's terms.

The former Liverpool, Aston Villa and Leicester forward is currently earning £13,000 per week with an extra £7,000 on top for when he does pull on a City shirt.

Even if the move falls through then sources close to Collymore are confident the player will be on his way before the end of the month.

But if Collymore were to join the French club it would see him link up former Arsenal striker Anelka, who left Highbury initially for Real Madrid before moving to PSG in a cloud of controversy.

Matt Clarke, who is on the transfer list after burning his bridges under Jefferies, is apparently close to ending his exile as another Premiership club - believed to be either Leicester or Newcastle - are interested in signing the 27-year-old goalkeeper.

Striker Isaiah Rankin, once Bradford's record signing from Arsenal at £1.3m, is being tracked by Bristol Rovers regarding a £400,000 deal.
