Thursday is D-day for Hartson move

John Hartson's transfer to Coventry City will not be completed until Thursday, according to his agent.

Coventry and Wimbledon are in talks over a ÂŁ5m transfer for the Wales striker, who has seen moves to Tottenham and Rangers break down after failing medicals. He has also been linked with Charlton, Newcastle and Celtic.

Jonathan Barnett, agent for the former West Ham and Arsenal striker, said he would be in Holland on business until Thursday, meaning the deal could not be completed util then.

He told Ananova.com: "Negotiations are going on between Coventry and Wimbledon, but I'm not sure how close the two of them are to agreeing a deal.

"I'm not back until Thursday so I don't think anything will happen until then, if it happens at all."

If Hartson puts pen-to-paper on Thursday it will still be in time for him to line up alongside Craig Bellamy at Newcastle on Saturday.

Barnett admitted that unlike Hartson's moves to Spurs and Rangers, he can see no stumbling blocks over Hartson's troublesome knee problem.

He said: "I don't think this will be a problem. John would like to pay in the Premiership but if not he will be happy to stay with Wimbledon.

"It was only the transfers to Tottenham and Rangers that broke down through injury. We don't see any problem with that this time, should the deal go through."
