Weekend FAI action

The first of 16 games this weekend in the second round of the FAI Harp Lager Cup was completed last night when Home Farm Fingal and Athlone town played out a scoreless draw.

The Dubliners did have the best chances when Darren Hogan’s penalty kick was saved by Gary Conachton. The sides will renew rivalry on Sunday next at Saint Mel’s Park, with a 6pm kick-off.

There are four games down for decision tonight Bohemians take on Drogheda and need a win as they trail premier division leaders Shelbourne by nine points. Bray Wanderers meet Sligo, while cup specialists Wayside Celtic have a trip to Saint Pat’s, who have never lost to non-league opposition in the competition. Tonight’s other tie is the all-first division clash between Waterford and Saint Francis. All games kick-off at 7.45pm.
