New York Giants edge past New Orleans Saints

Quarterback Drew Brees went third on the NFL’s all-time passing list but it wasn’t enough to save the New Orleans Saints as they went down 16-13 to the New York Giants at MetLife Stadum last night, with Josh Brown’s field goal late being the difference.

A five-yard pass to Brandin Cooks late in the first half drew Brees passed Dan Marino’s total of 61,361 yards.

The game wasn’t the shootout everyone expected. Unlike last November’s game in New Orleans that featured 101 combined points, the Giants won a 16-13 defensive showdown. The first touchdown didn’t come until Giants cornerback Janoris Jenkins returned a blocked field goal 65 yards with 2:30 remaining in the first half.
