Mark Scannell’s Glanmire chasing a dream double

Team Montenotte Glanmire and DCU Mercy clash in the Women’s Premier League final on Sunday at the Watershed, Kilkenny, as the domestic basketball season draws to a close.

The Cork outfit — bidding for a third league and cup double — had a sluggish start to the campaign but found their form after Christmas with a stunning run in all competitions.

Coach Mark Scannell admitted: “The opening months were difficult. Injuries hampered us but credit to the teams that beat us, as we have no right to win every game.”
