Myles Casey is hoping follow the lead of his brother Willie by making a ‘big bang’ after moving up in weight and booking his place in the National Elite Championship bantamweight final tomorrow.

The 22-year-old brother of former European professional champion Willie ‘Big Bang’ Casey is the reigning flyweight (52kg) Irish title holder, but he opted to move up to 56kg for the 2016 national championships.

The 2016 edition of the tournament takes place a month early in preparation for Olympic qualifiers, although Casey has most likely forfeited his chances of reaching the Rio Games as world champion Michael Conlan has already qualified at bantamweight.
