In his quarter-final course he got the better of Macroney Rebel by two lengths at the escape and then put out Cillowen Bolt by five lengths for the only score in the semi-final.
At the bottom of the draw the overnight favourite Tarmons Alonso showed a clean pair of heels to Free Advice, holding a big advantage at the escape. Master of Dreams came from behind to have three lengths to spare over the bitch Ballyverry Razor at the escape. In a fairly short slip in the semi-final Master of Dreams got the flag against Tarmons Alonso by a narrow margin, having been favoured by the hare. Master of Dreams was later withdrawn from the final.
Anthony Mullins from Carrignavar, Co. Cork took the Derby Trial Stake when his Creamery Wonder led Rushview Tom five lengths for the turn. The Oaks Trial Stakes provided a lot of upsets before Evan Houlihan and William Purdy’s (Banagher) Offherrocker booked her passage to Clonmel when she proved two lengths faster than Lingering Grace to the turn.
