A few hours after qualifying for his 11th consecutive Paralympic Games, John Twomey, was brought back down to earth — or to a Melbourne kitchen, to be exact.

Irish sonar crew skipper, Twomey celebrated the achievement at the IFDS Paralympic World Sailing Championships, by cooking dinner for Austin O’Carroll and Ian Costello, who will be joining him in Rio next year.

“The skipper has to cook,” Kinsale Yacht Club’s Twomey laughed. “We had liver, eggs and then chicken stuffed with black pudding. We couldn’t get Clonakilty pudding around here, so we had to make do with the local stuff.”
