UL Eagles got back to winning ways when defeating league debutants Eanna 88-75 with Stats Battle leading the scoring on 22 points.

In the Women’s Premier league the shock of the weekend occurred at the National Basketball Arena when Killester defeated Team Montenotte 82-73. Killester dominated for long periods and with American Rae Contreras (27) and Mimi Clarke (25) in top form they deservedly inflicted a first defeat of the season on Montenotte. The Cork side went into the game minus the influential Gráinne Dwyer but coach Mark Scannell refused to use that as the reason for this defeat. “Any team would miss Gráinne but, to me, we still should have performed better without taking anything away from Killester.”

Liffey Celtics overcame Singleton’s Supervalu Brunell 69-62. Meagan Hoffman and Christine Versell were in outstanding form for the winners as Brunell’s injury woes continued with Canadian Kaylee Kilpatrick only lasting seven minutes.

Meteors continued their impressive form when they saw off Portlaoise Panthers 76-53 with Kate O’Flaherty leading their scoring with 19 points. DCU Mercy are the only unbeaten side in the Women’s Premier league following their comfortable 89-68 home win over UL Huskies.

In the Women’s U20 National Cup Singleton’s Supervalu Brunell beat Waterford Wildcats 58-41..
