UCD looked in deep trouble at the break when trailing 55-35 but in the second half Swords were stunned into submission as their opponents amassed a staggering 62 points.

The Killester home court at Clontarf was once a fortress but those days must seem a distant memory. This weekend the hosts lost to UL Eagles 77-69, with Scott Kinevane and Neil Campbell chipping in with 18 points each.

Templeogue suffered a scare at Mountview before they eventually saw off Dublin Inter 61-57.

Inter led 30-24 in a low scoring first half but Templeogue somehow found the winning formula to take maximum points.

Belfast Star produced a solid performance to demolish DCU Saints 96-67, with American Ricky Taylor finishing with a game-high 29 points. The teams were level at 39 points each at half-time but in the second period, Taylor was awesome as Star ran out comfortable winners.

In the Women’s Premier League, Killester finished their regular season with an impressive 79-58 win over WIT Wildcats.

The play-off pairings are now known following Singleton’s SuperValu Brunell 55-53 victory over Meteors at the Parochial Hall.

In a disappointing game, the Cork side commanded a 33-30 interval lead and coming down the stretch, American Katie Hannemann nailed three late baskets that ensured a home victory.

Naturally the Brunell coach Kieran O’Leary was elated with his teams battling performance that guarantees them a two-leg semi-final against DCU Mercy.

“It was not one of our best performances of the season but the result was all that mattered, and now we have two games with DCU Mercy to contend with,” O’Leary said.

DCU Mercy will feel confident after putting in another polished performance as they easily defeated Liffey Celtics 74-46.

Liffey Celtics will now face Team Montenotte Hotel in the play-offs.
