Clonmel’s McCann rules the roads in Dungarvan
Raivis Zakis of the promoting West Waterford club won the men’s race in 32:30, over a minute ahead of Danny Smith from Ballynonty who finished in 33:33.
Meanwhile, John Barrett from Gneeveguilla took the overall title in the four-race 5km series which took place in the scenic Killarney Demesne. Barrett, 47, finished third in the final event but his average time of 16:10 gave him the cumulative honours by two seconds from Donal O’Callaghan of Riocht.
Conditions for the concluding race resulted in fast times with winner Ed Murphy crossing the line in 15:58, two seconds ahead of O’Callaghan with Barrett a further two seconds back in third.
Maria McCarthy (Farranfore-Maine Valley) won all three races she took part in with her time on the last day of 18:00 her fastest.
Anna-Marie Costelloe of Gneeveguilla, first a week ago in McCarthy’s absence, had to settle for second despite her time of 18:23 being 13 seconds faster with Catriona Barry, taking third in 19:07.
