Focused Barry ready to seize the moment

If there is one thing you come to expect at the Paralympics, it is the unexpected.

Almost 80,000 people discovered as much, on Sunday evening, when Brazil’s Alan Oliveira swept past Oscar Pistorius in the T44 200m final but such shocks are being recorded further down the Richter scale here in London every day.

Olympians, by and large, convene at their Games every four years with clearly defined form lines. Their Paralympic cousins, more often than not, don’t, which is why unknowns win gold medals and world records are shattered by 10 rather than 0.10 seconds.
