Tiger can use pace to get home
She’s drawn in trap two, which under most circumstances would be great, but the dog drawn on her inner has a tendency to move middle on the run-up and that could hold up the selection.
But, based on what we have seen so far, she should have the pace to overcome that potential stumbling block.
The bitch won her semi-final heat in a time of 29.18, but the performance was much better than that. She was very poorly drawn out in trap five, having showed a distinct preference for the inside on her only previous run.
The pace she showed down the back and up the home straight in last week’s heat suggested she could be capable of taking 40 or 50 spots of that time, if getting a run early. She should take a world of beating.
Both Minorcas Beauty and Butterbridge Fox are much better than they showed last week, but they may need the selection to falter if they’re to succeed here.
I Need You is long overdue a victory in a sprint and he can get it in the fifth race. Joe O’Callaghan’s dog showed fine early pace over 525 yards, but his trapping has been letting him down since moving to this discipline.
He still possesses the pace to record a fast time over the trip and he’ll do that when he breaks on terms. He ran a fine race in defeat behind Sli Padraig last time and if he can find a little improvement on that, he will be hard to beat.
The danger could come from Patriot Scolari, who showed real promise in his first two starts around Youghal, winning both times.
It’s hard to be certain how well he will perform over the shorter distance, but connections must be respected and a good show can be expected.
