Easy ‘600’ opener for George

Many of Ireland’s fastest and most powerful trackers will be put to the test when they line up for tonight’s opening round of the Betfair 600.

Newly crowned Easter Cup winner Tyrur Big Mike was withdrawn from the stake last night with owner PJ Fahy citing doubts about the greyhound suitability to the trip.

There will be a number of short priced favourites in tonight’s heats, none more so than last year's Derby winner Razldazl George, who lines out in the opener.

From a perfect pitch on the fence, Dolores Ruth's runner should have no trouble seeing off one of the weakest fields of the round.

Slick Seattle will start a warm favourite in Heat 2, although many will feel comfortable opposing him. There is no doubting his talent, however, and if he avoids traffic problems he’ll be hard to hold.

The absence of Tyrur Big Mike from Heat 3 should leave reigning champion Kingo, Royal Patrol and Fastaway King to dominate the betting.

Much will depend on which gets first run, but experience over the distance could swing this one Kingo’s way.

Dolores Ruth could record a treble with Razldazl Will expected to dominate Heat 4. As with his half-brothers Razldazl George and Kingo, Will is expected to see out the trip and he can emerge a comfortable scorer.

The best is left till last with Tibetan Skies, Ardkill Star and Rockchase Bullet featuring in the final heat. Rockchase Bullet is the sharpest of the trio and may set the pace, but he will need to be at his very best to contain his rivals.
