Ellida goes fastest in Winter League

WHAT a difference a few hours can make to winter sailing.

As 30-knot winds battered the country, crews competing in the penultimate race of the CH Marine Winter League in RCYC must have wondered whether they would get any sailing at all.

By midday, however, the breeze had dropped to a light westerly of around 8-10 knots giving race officer Conor Phelan (Jump Juice) the perfect window to start a 27-boat mad dash for the line.
