Breen also faces Estonia battle

Tomorrow night’s Euro play-off isn’t the only Ireland/Estonia confrontation this week as Waterford’s Craig Breen goes head to head with Estonian Egon Kaur for the inaugural World Rally Championship Academy series on Rally GB that begins this afternoon.

Kaur has the upper hand but Breen, even though he is 20 points in arrears, can still overturn the deficit. With 25 points for victory and a point for every fastest stage time, he will have to dominate most of the 17 stages between this evening and Saturday. Meanwhile, Alastair Fisher, a winner of the French round, has impressed on both gravel and sealed surface events. Currently fourth in the series, the 23 year old Tyrone driver has set his sights on clinching third place but needs to overhaul the equally talented Spanish driver, Yeray Lemes, who is ten points ahead.
