MCLAREN team principal Martin Whitmarsh confirmed Jenson Button will be with the team next season.

Following the Belgian Grand Prix Button urged Whitmarsh to finally take up the option on his contract for 2012.

Whitmarsh has now confirmed the 31-year-old will see out the final year of the three-year deal he signed in 2009.

Meanwhile Sebastian Vettel is still refusing to believe he has the world title in the bag. With seven races remaining it appears inconceivable Vettel will be caught in his quest for back-to-back world championships.

Red Bull team-mate Mark Webber is his closest challenger at 92 points adrift – with 175 available – whilst Fernando Alonso, Jenson Button and Lewis Hamilton are all over 100 down.

Vettel who finished second quickest overall in practice yesterday ahead of Sunday’s Italian Grand Prix at Monza, said: “I know we are in a good position, but there is a possibility I could be caught..”
