Crossfield can be star of the show
The very promising youngster was unlucky in defeat in last week’s semi-finals and, with a clear run, would surely have recorded a time in the 28.40s.
In comparison to what he had previously achieved here at Curraheen, he was sharper at traps and that led to a much improved display.
Drawn five in this final, he has the benefit of the fast-starting but rails-seeking Muskerry Torres on his inside and that rival could neutralise the threat of the improving Cambushmore, who beat Crossfield Star last weekend.
With modest breaker Travel Free on his outer, Crossfield Star is set for a clear run from the off and his all-round pace should be more than enough to secure the €1,400 prize.
Bell Bound appeals as the one to beat in the first heat of the second round of the Cork GOBA Past Presidents’ A3. She showed electric early pace when winning an A5 here a couple of weeks ago but was unable to get free of early trouble last weekend.
Although there’s plenty of early speed in tomorrow night’s race, she should be afforded plenty of room in the first few yards and that could be enough to see her clear. Curragh Jamie would be a big danger if trapping from the inside.
