The young Irish Laser Radial claimed tenth place overall with his victory. Royal St George Yacht Club’s Sophie Murphy placed 23rd in her final race, which saw her finish 11th overall. This is the best result Ireland has ever had in the girl’s single handed competition since Ireland began competing at the ISAF Youth Worlds in 1971.
Cork natives Emma Geary from Royal Cork Yacht Club and Niamh Connolly from Baltimore Sailing Club put in another strong performance in the 420 class, finishing 12th and 17th overall.
At the Irish Rowing Championships, Skibbereen teamed up with Lee Valley to form a winning combination in the men’s senior quad.
Earlier, in the women’s senior quad, Skibb pipped the Old Collegians/Three Castles crew in a nail-biting race.
