Starlet Kiely sets final target at World Youth Championship
The Waterford teenager goes through to today’s semi-finals (11.30am Irish time) among the fastest losers after her fifth place in 61.91 secs behind Nnenya Hailey (USA), 58.71 secs, Aya Takizawa (Japan), 59.86 secs, Ashley Taylor (Canada), 60.38 and Karolina Pahlitzsch (Germany), 60.91 secs.
Phillipa Rogan (Greystones AC), Ireland’s sole representative in the field events, failed to get through the qualifying rounds of the high jump. Her best of 1.67m was well short of the 1.75m qualification mark she set at the Berkshire County Schools championships in Reading last month.
