Donegal International Rally gets major sponsor boost
The Letterkenny-based event that celebrates its 40th anniversary, is the only three-day event on the Irish rallying calendar. This year’s rally will take place from Friday June 17 to Sunday June 19. It is estimated that the Donegal event is worth up to €25m to the local economy.
Meanwhile, the Tarmac Rally Organisers Association (TROA) has announced the Irish Tarmac Rally Championship will remain a six-round Irish Championship for 2012 and 2013. For the moment, the Jim Clark and Rally Isle of Man will not be part of the championship. David Gray, the TROA chairman, said: “This change reflects feedback from competitors and the economic situation, however, it does not preclude the return of former counting rounds — the Isle of Man and the Jim Clark International.”
