Tyrur Bucko ruled out of Laurels

THE well-fancied Tyrur Bucko will not run in Saturday’s second semi-final of the Pat Hennerty Sales Irish Laurels at Curraheen Park due to a serious injury.

Tyrur Bucko ruled out of Laurels

PJ Fahy, who also has the ante-post favourite Tyrur Enda in the other semi, explained yesterday that Bucko sustained a wrist injury in last weekend’s quarter-finals and will be out of action for at least three months.

He said: “He was on three legs an hour after the race. We had him checked yesterday and the vet confirmed that the dog will be off for at least three months. ”

Fahy, who hasn’t been over happy about the lack of watering during racing at Curraheen in the Laurels, had a positive update on Tyrur Enda and said, “he is hopping”.

Bucko, winner of the Cox Cup this year in track record time, was due to contest the second heat for which he was quoted at 4-1 third favourite by Cashmans. His absence will mean that Dalcash Cardosa and Tubbertelly Dubh will contract in price in a heat that also has Kiowa Myth, Took The Okee and Killorane Boy.

Meanwhile, there will be a high class programme at the first night of racing at the new Limerick Stadium on Friday.

There will be four 12-dog sweepstakes run in conjunction with the big St Gabriel’s Benefit Meeting which will be held on Saturday week.

The Open 550 looks a particularly tasty competition with Cesarewitch and International winner Definate Opinion, Oaks heroine Skywalker Queen and leading Derby hopes Monlesa Alsation and Three One Three among the entries.

Liam Kennedy also reports that there is a very good one-off Open 750 which will have Cooladerry Fizz, Mustang Johnny, Cool Model, Schofield Sam and Surf Silver among the runners.
