Hession unlikely to target Cork sprint double

PAUL HESSION will defend his Cork City Sports 200m title at the CIT on Saturday but is unlikely to double up at 100m.

Hession unlikely to target Cork sprint double

Last year Brendan Christian (Antigua and Barbuda) pipped the Athenry man in the 100m but hopes of a quick revenge were dashed when he pulled out of the 200m which was won handsomely by Hession.

On Saturday Kim Collins (St. Kitts and Nevis) will add an extra dimension to the sprints. He made headlines with a surprise win in the 100m at the world championships in Paris. He underscored that when he won a world indoor title and, since then, has made two Olympic finals. In Beijing he made the final of the 200m and now Cork City Sports meet organiser, Dick Hodgins, is hoping that he will choose the 200m in Cork and that Brendan Christian will be in the line-up as well.
