THE Olympic medallists may be missing from the line-up but Ireland’s boxers maintained their run of good form at the European boxing championships in Liverpool with three more big wins yesterday.

John Joe Joyce was always expected to win his light welterweight contest against John Tain of Scotland but there were sensational performances from the 20-year-old Clonmel heavyweight, Con Sheehan, and middleweight Eamonn O’Kane from Belfast.

All three join Ryan Lindberg, David Oliver Joyce and Ross Hickey in the quarter finals — just one fight away from the medals.
