Chambers in Games bid
Chambers was planning to run at a British League meeting in Windsor today but now believes he is fully prepared to clinch a Beijing place at the Alexander Stadium where his heats begin on Friday.
The 30-year-old reformed drug cheat, who is currently banned from ever again representing his country at Olympic level, will next week challenge that decision at the High Court in London.
Chambers’ legal team will argue that a British Olympic Association bylaw introduced 14 years ago effectively restricts his right to trade as a world-class athlete.
The hearing is provisionally planned to be heard next Friday but it is understood that date is not definite.
Chambers, who tested positive for the designer steroid THG in 2003, remains confident that given that he has served his two-year ban he should be allowed to compete in the Beijing.
Last weekend the Londoner easily achieved the Olympic 100m qualifying standard at an international meeting in Germany.
