Clarke shortlisted for BBC sports award

THE BBC have unveiled a shortlist of 10 sportsmen and women who are in contention for the Sports Personality of the Year award — including Irish golfer Darren Clarke.

Nine sports are represented, with two boxers — Joe Calzaghe and Ricky Hatton — nominated.

Also on the list are Formula One driver Jenson Button, golfer Darren Clarke, cyclist Nicole Cooke, tennis player Andy Murray, cricketer Monty Panesar, equestrian rider Zara Phillips, darts player Phil Taylor and gymnast Beth Tweddle.
