Stevie G’s blues prove José’s Ballack move just right

EVEN when all those professional pundits were waxing lyrical at the start of the season about Liverpool, and their title winning credentials, José said that our main threat would come from United and Arsenal; looks like he was right (again).

United have been like a juggernaut since the start of the season; and Arsenal have weathered a shaky start and are now beginning to get into gear. They took Liverpool apart, even with a quiet Henry. Liverpool were instrumental in their own downfall, and their one-time powerhouse Gerrard looked a shadow of the player he was last season.

My colleague, Steve Kelly, has already alluded to the rumours surrounding his personal life at the moment — we have no way of knowing whether they are true or not — and even if they are, they may not necessarily be affecting his form.
