Man of Peace fancied to book Clonmel passage

AFTER two rounds of the Derby Trial Stake at the Fermoy and Grange Coursing meeting Man of Peace, trained by Fintan Kirwan for Sir Mark Prescott, was fancied to book his passage to Clonmel.

He wasn’t that impressive in his opening course against What I Say but moved up a gear when eliminating Syndalee by five lengths. He could have a tough course this morning against Quarrymount Kido, who ran well in his two outings. However, he should survive and go on to meet Gallant Keano in the semi-final.

At the bottom of the draw, the winner of the course between Juniper Hill and Whateverhappens, who could meet in the semi-final, should reach the final. I give Whateverhappens slight preference but he may have to give best to Man of Peace in the final.

In the Oaks Trial Stake nothing went better than Quarrymount Vera and if she can reproduce that form she should have little difficulty in making the final.

In the top half Ballybeg Fancy and Aintsheadream should win their respective courses and set up a potentially thrilling semi-final. This one could go either way but I am leaning slightly towards ‘Ballybeg’. However, Quarrymount Vera looks to one to book an early Clonmel ticket.

Coursing this morning will again commence at 11.30.
