UL to host swimming championships for athletes with Down syndrome

LIMERICK has beaten off stiff competition from Dublin to host the World Swimming Championships for Athletes with Down syndrome next year.

This major international event will attract over 500 people to the region next September when the swimming championships are held for a week at the University of Limerick.

The event will bring a cash boost of over €1.5 million to the wider Shannonside region where the athletes and their families will be staying for the duration of the event.
