Wilson wins World U21 Championship title

Gary Wilson warmed up for his debut season on snooker’s main professional tour by capturing the World U21 Championship with an 11-5 defeat of Thailand’s Kobkit Palajin in Carlow yesterday.

Wilson, an 18-year-old from Newcastle, joins the world ranking tournament circuit next month after a strong showing on the last season’s Challenge Tour.

And he further demonstrated his promise by pulling away from 6-4 at the halfway stage to comfortably claim the title.
