Morris, who racked up six century breaks en route to the final, raced into a 6-0 lead with the help of breaks of 96 and 117 in an awesome display of snooker in the first session.

2003 champion O’Donoghue staged a minor comeback with the next two frames, but Morris stepped up another gear compiling a superb 134 in the next frame and won the next comfortably to win his second title.

The 16-year-old Irish Examiner national junior sports star for 2004, finished top of the national rankings for the season.

Morris now travels to Poland along with O’Donoghue, Martin McCrudden and Robert Murphy for the European Championships which start tomorrow morning and, with a main tour place on offer, the stakes have never been so high.

Morris also had the distinction of compiling the highest break of the championships, a superb 136 in his semi-final win over Limerick’s John Torpey.
