Quins II advance as O’Brien grabs late winner

HARLEQUINS II are through to the semi-final of the Odlums Irish Junior Womens Cup after a 4-3 win over Dublin University on Saturday at Harlequin Park.

In a great game of hockey it was end to end action as both sides had plenty of chances to win the game.

Jayne O’Brien was the hero when she got the winner with time running out and put them into the semi-final. Church of Ireland II were also in action, and despite playing some good hockey were on the wrong end of a 3-1 result against Loreto II.

Harlequins I and Church of Ireland I will face each other in the Munster Division One cup final after their respective wins over Waterford and Catholic Institute.

Goals from Deirdre Casey, Grace Young and Karen Hales helped Church of Ireland to a 3-1 win as Jan Dillon, Karen Bateman, Jane Chapple, Emer Dillon and Cliona O’Connor scored for Quins in their 5-3 win.
