Ireland in basketball comeback

The Ireland men’s basketball side overcame a 14-point first quarter deficit to beat Turkey on Saturday night. Six Irish players scored over eight points in this tournament game, which ended in a welter of excitement.

Ireland forged 49-46 ahead at the end of the third, much to the delight of the crowd. In the final quarter Turkey retook the lead before a three from Chris Bracey edged Ireland ahead again. Conlon gave Ireland a 63-61 lead with 1.30 to go and when he scored Ireland were four up.

Ireland used these games as preparation for the European Championships; they travel to Cyprus for one more friendly before facing Malta in the first competitive game. They then return to Dublin to play Switzerland on September 15.
