McLaren warn against latest grand prix reform plan

The raft of changes planned for Formula One for next season and beyond could push the sport into ‘crisis’, according to McLaren chief Martin Whitmarsh.

McLaren warn against latest grand prix reform plan

Max Mosley, president of world governing body the FIA, plans to make radical changes to F1 in terms of engines, aerodynamics and tyres.

He has given team bosses a deadline to come up with changes or face new rules being imposed by the FIA as he looks to cut costs and reduce speeds.

Whitmarsh, McLaren’s managing director, is unhappy with the number of changes proposed at a time when team bosses are unable to find common ground on how to alter the rules, pushing Formula One nearer to Mosley’s own vision of the future.
