ATHENS-bound Emma Robinson will be the star attraction as the Irish Open swimming championships get underway today in Lisburn.

Her Olympic colleague Michael Williamson underlined his current form on Sunday at the ASA Championships in Manchester, when he swam 2:15.7 in the heats of the 200m breaststroke and 2:16.0 to win the final and beat British Olympian, Chris Cook into 3rd place.

The decision by the OCI to only accept ‘A’ qualification standards, has brought disappointment for members of Swim Ireland, particularly European short course silver medalist, Andrew Bree and Stephen Manley, both of whom achieved the B standard.
