Cork double in Pitch and Putt Championships

Cork, the holders, won the men’s Munster Inter County Pitch and Putt Championships scoring 400 gross, 32 under par, at Lakeside, Templemore yesterday.

Limerick also returned 400 gross but Cork won on the fifth card.

Former Irish strokeplay champion Frank O’Donoghue’s 102 proving decisive for Cork to Mark Ryan’s 105 gross.

The ladies completed a Cork double by winning the provincial title with a team score of 427 gross. Limerick were runners-up on 450.

Kerry won the Munster Juvenile Inter County title, scoring 423 gross with Tipperary, runners-up on 424.

Darren Goodall, Tralee, won the boys’ Munster title, scoring 100 gross, 8 under par.

Michelle McCarthy, Hillview took the girls title with 65 gross.
