Tipperary have come this far without too much exertion, although they were more impressive in the earlier rounds. Successive championship victories is Tipp’s primary objective. They will take league success along the way, once nothing needed for an All-Ireland win is sacrificed.

However, they have to surmount the considerable obstacle of Wexford tomorrow. Statistics measuring performance are now all encompassing in sport. But stats fail to measure determination and the ‘will to win’. As well as these two very necessary ingredients, Wexford have shown an abundance of intelligence under the astute management of Davy Fitzgerald in this league campaign.
