I was told the story about the day Eddy Young (RIP) decided he was going to stop playing football around 25 years ago and it has remained lodged in my mind ever since.

Eddy played for Castledawson and Derry. He was a great fielder of the ball and a decent storyteller too.

He told this yarn to my father and he told me, so it should be near enough the truth. Our setting is Davitt Park, Swatragh, South Derry.
